Michael J. Welsh, MD honored with prestigious Lasker Award for fundamental cystic fibrosis discoveries that helped create life-saving therapies

Kevin Campbell, PhD, professor and chair of molecular physiology and biophysics at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, will receive the 2025 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize from Columbia University.

Michael Tansey, MD will receive the Gary D. Hughes Professorship in Pediatric Endocrinology established in memory of Kevin J. Smith.

Nearly 100 University of Iowa Health Care residents, fellows, and their spouses gathered in a room overlooking Kinnick Stadium on July 31, 2025, to explore job opportunities at health care organizations across the state. Ten Iowa-based health systems, clinics, and critical access hospitals attended the event with the goal of encouraging medical trainees to stay in Iowa to practice medicine.
