The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine will honor 49 of its faculty as the college’s inaugural group of Impact Scholars—researchers who have made a major scientific impact over the course of their careers.

Peter Snyder, MD, has been named associate dean for faculty affairs and development in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, effective March 1.

United States Navy Capt. Jeffrey D. Quinlan, MD, FAAFP, has been named chair and departmental executive officer of the Department of Family Medicine in the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine.

The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine has announced the appointment of Kamal Rahmouni, PhD, and Dale Abel, MD, PhD, as co-directors of the Obesity Research and Education Initiative (OREI).

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine Wall of Scholarship was established to highlight biomedical research by acknowledging a distinct group of Carver College of Medicine faculty members whose published research articles have made a significant impact on a particular field of science or medicine.

Denise Martinez, MD, wanted to be a doctor from the time she was 5 years old. After earning a “C” grade in general chemistry as an undergraduate student, however, Martinez feared her medical career would stall before it had even started.
