EMERGENCY MEDICINE VISITING INSTRUCTOR

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking to fill faculty positions at the rank of Visiting Instructor. This position allows for clinical practice while pursuing additional training in these tracks of study: Medical Education, Emergency Ultrasound, Research, and Social Medicine. Upon successful completion of this appointment, the Visiting Instructor in Emergency Medicine will earn a certification of completion of training and will have had the opportunity to earn a Master’s degree.
The Visiting Instructor will work in the capacity of a junior faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine (ED). They will have full attending responsibilities and for the purposes of billing and compliance, shall bill as faculty members. Clinical service in the ED, completion of at least one academic or research project, active participation in teaching Emergency Medicine residents and medical students, and track-specific curriculum are minimum responsibilities of the Visiting Instructor position during the specified term of appointment.

Instructor Position Available
The Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine invites applications for Medical Physicist for a faculty appointment within the Department of Radiology.
A successful Ph.D. candidate will be appointed on the non-tenure clinical track at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, and a successful M.S.-prepared candidate will be appointed as a faculty instructor. The position is a 1.0 FTE.
The Diagnostic Medical Physicist will support imaging and the hospital departments by performing evaluations of a wide variety of imaging systems in all modalities to ensure compliance with state regulations, accreditation requirements, and relevant practice standards. The physicist will also evaluate and characterize image quality to ensure imaging equipment is operating at optimal performance levels, and provide consultation to clients regarding facility design, shielding requirements, assessment of supplemental shielding, patient and occupational radiation exposure, etc. This role will provide support to MCU, MCD, MCNL, and IRL. Additional responsibilities of the Medical Physicist include: Protection of the patient and others from potentially harmful or excessive radiation; assists in the establishment of adequate protocols to ensure accurate patient dosimetry; the measurement and characterization of radiation; the determination of delivered dose; advancement of procedures necessary to ensure image quality; development and direction of quality assurance programs, and assistance to other health professionals in optimizing the balance between the beneficial and deleterious effects of radiation; and compliance with state and federal regulations.

About the Department of Radiology:
The Department of Radiology includes 69 staff physicians, 22 PhD researchers, 27 fellows, and 36 residents. The Radiology enterprise expands across four campuses throughout the Iowa City corridor. We also serve Stead Family Children’s Hospital located at the Medical Center University campus, as well as several UI urgent cares, clinics, and additional affiliates. Our enterprise operates 12 clinical CT scanners including two Alpha photon-counting scanners , 14 clinical MR scanners including four 3T machines, and the first Siemens Free.Max MR to be housed in an Emergency Department in the United States. We operate three time-of-flight (TOF) PET/CT systems and anticipate receiving a Siemens PET/MR in fall 2025.
The Department of Radiology plays an integral role in the Iowa Institute of Biomedical Imaging (IIBI), a collaboration of nearly 100 faculty and staff within the colleges of Engineering, Medicine, and Liberal Arts (https://www.iibi.uiowa.edu). The facility includes 3T, 3T head only and 7T research scanners.
The Department of Radiology consistently ranks highly in the Blue Ridge Institute NIH rankings, having received over $10 million in NIH funding last year. We host nine research labs and have 37 active phase I and phase II clinical trials.

Position Description
The University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking faculty for a position as Research Scientist with interest and expertise in emergency medicine research. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a track record of scholarly productivity, along with a background of exceptional clinical care and a clear commitment to education.
Research Division Overview
Research is central to the mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine, and the Research Division is dedicated to cultivating a collaborative, well-supported environment that enables investigators to excel. Duties and Responsibilities
The Physician-Scientist or Research Faculty member is expected to establish and sustain a competitively funded research program (NIH or equivalent extramural funding) and actively engage in interdisciplinary research related to Emergency Medicine, although prior funding is not required prior to appointment. Responsibilities include conducting emergency care research, including clinical, health services, translational/basic science, or implementation science research.
Physician candidates will also perform assigned clinical duties at one of the University of Iowa Health Emergency Department practice sites.

CYTOGENETICIST

University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a cytogeneticist.⯠Appointment rank is open and may be to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest.â¯Appointment rank to Instructor of Pediatrics (non-tenure) may also be considered. The individual selected will join the Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics. The individual selected will join the Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services in cytogenetics.
The Division of Medical Genetics and Genomics is committed to excellence in providing comprehensive services for children, adults and prenatal patients in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of genetic conditions. The Division's multidisciplinary team is comprised of board-certified medical geneticists, a molecular genetic pathologist, physician assistants, a nurse practitioner, genetic counselors, nurses and a dietitian. Our clinics include: General Genetics Clinics, Metabolic Genetics Clinics, Connective Tissue Disorder Clinics, Neurofibromatosis Clinics, Cancer Predisposition, Multidisciplinary Tuberous Sclerosis Clinics, Undiagnosed Disease Clinics, Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Clinics, and Outreach Genetics Clinics. The Shivanand R. Patil Cytogenetics and Molecular Laboratory is staffed by approximately 18 technologists, two bioinformaticians, one post-doc and three faculty directors. The laboratory performs chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), chromosomal microarrays (CMA) as well as DNA sequencing and performs over 7,000 clinical tests per year. The laboratory servers both pediatric and adult patients for indications of postnatal genetics, prenatal genetics and oncology. The laboratory has an ABMGG accredited Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) Fellowship program and two current fellows.

Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track at the assistant clinical professor level. The position is a 0.5 FTE and consists of 100% clinical time.
The Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting a psychologist, clinical mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist to join our outpatient team to provide primarily clinical services to patients in the Weight Management Clinic. This person will be responsible for providing outpatient therapy and clinical assessment as well as education and consultation to patients/families and care providers, as well as provide supervision of graduate student psychotherapy. Therapy may include evidence based individual, couple, family, and group therapy models.
This person will engage in teaching at multiple levels, such as medical residents/fellows, medical students, and graduate students. Teaching opportunities include more formal didactics and clinical teaching. We will work closely with the candidate to optimize their time to work in preferred areas of interest.

The University of Iowa Department of Neurology is seeking faculty for a full-time position in Neuropsychology. The appointment will be on the clinical (non-tenure) track, with appointment rank (i.e., Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) based on qualifications.
The position requires the delivery of clinical neuropsychological services, including assessment and rehabilitation, under the auspices of the Benton Neuropsychology Clinic. The Benton Clinic follows a flexible battery, hypothesis-driven approach to assessment, using many instruments that were created at Iowa by Arthur Benton, a founder of the field.
The Benton Clinic is staffed by neuropsychologists and postdoctoral residents, and a technician-based testing approach is utilized. Neuropsychologists in the clinic have extensive contact with leading scientists in neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience. Neuropsychologists work in direct collaboration with neurologists and other physicians, and have access to daily case conferences, grand rounds, special lectures, and numerous outstanding educational opportunities. The Benton Clinic also has close ties with the Neuroscience PhD Program and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa. The Clinic functions in a spacious area of the University Hospitals, in the Department of Neurology, and provides a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitation services. The patient population is comprised primarily of adults with neurological disease including degenerative conditions, stroke, epilepsy, tumor, head injury, and movement disorders.
