Lastascia Coleman selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholar

Date: Friday, October 15, 2021

Lastascia Coleman, ARNP, CNM, FACNM, certified nurse midwife, in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been selected to participate in one of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s (RWJF) leadership programs.

These programs connect changemakers across the country—from diverse professions and fields—to learn from and work with one another in creating more fair and thriving communities.

Coleman was selected to participate in the Health Policy Research Scholars program. Designed for doctoral students from historically marginalized backgrounds and populations underrepresented in specific disciplines, the program helps students from all fields apply their work to policies that advance equity and health while building a diverse network of leaders who reflect changing national demographics.

As a member of the program’s newest cohort, Coleman has narrowed down her research focus to Medicaid, maternal health, alternative payment models, models of care that pregnant people want, decision making processes for health care organizations on equity work, and bringing reproductive justice to health services.
