Meet the Dean

Welcome to the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, a nationally ranked medical school that is part of University of Iowa Health Care.

The college’s mission is to inspire and educate world-class health care providers and scientists for the people of Iowa and our global community. We are changing medicine and changing lives.

At Iowa, students become accomplished clinicians and top-flight researchers and educators by studying and training in a rigorous and supportive environment that includes a strong commitment to diversity and humanism.

We admit students who thrive in this academic environment. We teach from a medical curriculum that provides the best didactic and practical learning experiences possible and offer opportunities for students to experience the world through research, service, travel, and the humanities. Students are supported throughout the learning process.

Our students learn from outstanding faculty members, many of whom are recognized as experts in their fields and committed to teaching and training the next generation of leaders in clinical care, biomedical research and health care education with a focus on innovation and collaboration.
