The University of Iowa Department of Anesthesia is seeking a accomplished academic anesthesiologist to serve as Division Chief for Pediatric Anesthesia. This leadership role involves overseeing the pediatric anesthesia division, ensuring excellence in clinical care, education, and research. The Division Chief will report to the Chair of the Department of Anesthesia and collaborate closely with other pediatric leaders. The successful candidate will be a recognized academic leader with outstanding clinical skills, a commitment to education and research, and proven leadership abilities to inspire and manage faculty and staff. This role also involves strategic planning and program development to advance the division's mission of providing exceptional care to children. The Department of Anesthesia is seeking a faculty member for appointment on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank, depending on qualifications.
These responsibilities include:
Clinical Oversight: Provide clinical leadership for pediatric anesthesia services, ensuring high-quality and efficient anesthesia for pediatric procedures. Employ evidence-based practices to improve pediatric patient outcomes. Lead the division in implementation of protocol standardization, where applicable, working to eliminate barriers to quality and safety. Foster a culture of team-centricity, help to clarify roles and responsibilities.
Education: In collaboration with our Vice Chair for Education, develop and advance pediatric anesthesia curriculum, provide clinical teaching, and participate in departmental didactic programs. Serve as a role model and ensure pediatric anesthesia educational goals for residents and fellows are met.
Research: In collaboration with our Vice Chair for Research promote and support pediatric research initiatives to encourage academic growth. Develop strategies to enhance research programs and encourage multidisciplinary partnerships.
Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to foster excellence and innovation within the pediatric anesthesia division. Identify goals, monitor progress, and support professional development.
Collaboration: Collaborate with nursing leadership, surgeons, and children’s hospital leadership to optimize patient care and workflow. Work with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.

The University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking an ABIM board eligible or board-certified Infectious Diseases physician at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor. This position will involve inpatient and outpatient consultative care for general Infectious Disease patients. In addition, the ID component of this position may involve a smaller role in outpatient HIV clinic. A component of General Medicine Hospitalist work may be included, not to exceed 0.4 FTE effort.

University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks a pediatric cardiologist for our Des Moines, Iowa location.â¯Appointment will be a open rank clinical track position. â¯The individual selected will join the Division of Cardiology to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a pediatric cardiologist.
The Division of Cardiology at the University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics provides compassionate, family-centered, and state-of-the-art delivery of care to children and young adults with congenital and acquired heart disease. Patients are followed through the transition to adulthood.â¯Dedicated staff have expertise in acquired heart diseases such as cardiomyopathies, cardiac arrhythmias, blood lipid disorders, congenital heart disease, cardiac dysfunction in malignancy, and cardiac implications associated with pediatric obesity. The division provides the only expertise for electrophysiology, diagnostic, interventional and transplant services for children and youth in the state of Iowa. ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Bacteriology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This tenure-track position includes a 12-month appointment, fringe benefits, competitive start-up package, office and laboratory space, and access to state-of-the-art core facilities, instrumentation, and BSL3 and animal BSL3 space. The primary appointment of the faculty member will be in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Successful applicants will be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program and to participate in teaching activities in the Department.
Teaching responsibilities may include bacterial genetics, bacterial physiology, or bacterial pathogenesis. We seek applicants studying any aspect of bacteriology including, but not limited to bacterial pathogenesis, bacterial gene regulation and stress responses, bacterial cell biology, bacterial behaviors, antimicrobial resistance, or how bacteria adapt to different environments, including in a eukaryotic host or complex polymicrobial community.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and a robust, hypothesis driven research program focused at the molecular, cell biological, or organismal level demonstrated through a strong publication record. We are particularly interested in individuals whose research interests and expertise will complement the existing research in our department such as membrane protein biophysics and physiology, membrane trafficking, and signal transduction. EMERGENCY MEDICINE VISITING INSTRUCTOR

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking to fill faculty positions at the rank of Visiting Instructor. This position allows for clinical practice while pursuing additional training in these tracks of study: Medical Education, Emergency Ultrasound, Research, and Social Medicine. Upon successful completion of this appointment, the Visiting Instructor in Emergency Medicine will earn a certification of completion of training and will have had the opportunity to earn a Master’s degree.
The Visiting Instructor will work in the capacity of a junior faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine (ED). They will have full attending responsibilities and for the purposes of billing and compliance, shall bill as faculty members. Clinical service in the ED, completion of at least one academic or research project, active participation in teaching Emergency Medicine residents and medical students, and track-specific curriculum are minimum responsibilities of the Visiting Instructor position during the specified term of appointment.
