UI Women’s Wellness Counseling & Services Receives “Exceptional Patient Experience Team Award”

Staff and medical personnel at the Women's Wellness Center pose for a celebratory photo after receiving the “FY24 Exceptional Patient Experience Team Award”.

When it comes to patient experience, one of the best in the nation can be found at the Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

The Women’s Wellness and Counseling Service (WWC) provides a range of mental health and medication management support services to birthing persons and their partners.

This past Monday, staff and medical providers at the WWC gathered over a celebratory lunch hour to formally receive the “FY24 Exceptional Patient Experience Team Award”.

Bestowed by the UIHC Office of the Patient Experience (OPE), the award is based on Press-Ganey patient satisfaction survey results from the last year. The WWC team’s performance in terms of overall patient experience was outstanding not only compared to other UIHC clinics, but also in comparison to all other clinics in the United States, ranking in the 93rd percentile nationwide.

“That’s just absolutely amazing,” said Kipton Pedersen, Assistant Director of the OPE.

Pedersen was present at the WWC clinic on Monday to deliver the award and bundt cakes, compliments of Nothing Bundt Cakes.

“We are so incredibly proud of you guys,” he said, adding that people are the greatest asset of the UIHC.

Doctors Michael Strong and David Moser from the Department of Psychiatry—Vice Chair for Clinical Services and Vice Chair of Faculty for Faculty Development, respectively—joined in the praise, commending the WWC team for their “tenacity,” “passion,” and “phenomenal leadership.”

Stacey Pawlak, Director of the WWC, said that when she found out her team had won the award, “I really wasn’t surprised at all.”

“We have an outstanding team."
