Two early-career scientists have each been awarded a one-year, $30,000 American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant through Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UI.

Frida Teran receives the 2021 Maria Cano Martinez Service Award. This scholarship was established to promote understanding and the study of Chicanx/Latinx issues by providing funds, annually, for a student who promotes understanding through scholarly activity or working with Chicanx/Latinx organization on campus or in the community.
